The State Records Office is pleased to announce the new General Disposal Authority for State Government Information has been approved by the State Records Commission and is available for use by State government organizations.
The new GDA was launched by Mr Colin Murphy, Auditor General and Chair of the State Records Commission, at an event for executive level officers within State government on 11 December 2013. Professor Fiona Stanley AC spoke at the launch on the value of archives, stressing their vital importance for historical, medical and other types of research.
This new general disposal authority supersedes and replaces the previous General Disposal Authorities for:
- Administrative Records (RD 2003016);
- Human Resource Management Records (RD 2012004); and
- Financial and Accounting Records (RD 2005010).
The superseded authorities can no longer be used to sentence or dispose of State records.
The General Disposal Authority for State Government Information and supporting resources are available at Disposal of State Records.
In addition, State Records Office guidance for revising existing or preparing new Retention and Disposal Schedules has been updated and is available at Developing a Disposal Authority.
Information sessions for using the new GDA will be conducted early in 2014.
